The Full Story
About Our Projects
After meeting the 45 orphans in Kathmandu, I was told that it costs $500 a month to feed all of the children. As I thought about some of my recent purchases, I started to calculate how many months of food that money could have provided. I was shocked to realize that I could have fed these children for many years with just one purchase. I knew then that I had to do something. I decided to sponsor the orphanage with the goal of pledging $175,000 in the next year and a half. I want to help these children get the nutrition, education, housing and healthcare they need to thrive. Here are the projects that we have already completed since September 5th, 2024 and the additional projects that we are presently working on as well as the future anticipated projects.

Water Source Repair & Septic Tank Construction (Completed)
The water source for the orphanage is from a spring waterfall about 2 miles up in the national park. We needed to make it more secure by adding a water reservoir tank and connecting it to a pipeline all the way to the orphanage.
The kids had running water as the support staff tried to bring it down from the spring source but on a regular basis the water was getting blocked as the pipeline was clogged with mud & silt. So we made something permanent by fixing a water tank to the source and connecting a pipeline through the tank so that it doesn't get clogged up.

The Septic Tank in the orphanage was damaged by this year's monsoon. It had been serving well for the last 11 years but due to this years monsoons, we needed to make it more solid and permanent to prevent the children & the environment from getting polluted.

The Dining Room
(Under Construction)
Upgrade the Dining Room (Presently the dining room serves three functions, a place to eat meals, Study Hall and Recreation Room.)
The project scope consists of retiling the floor, painting the walls and ceiling as well as delivering new Dining Hall furniture.
The long term project consists of adding a 3rd floor to the existing building so that the room above the current Dining Room can be used exclusively as Recreation Room. In addition, we are seeking to construct a stand alone building in the back which would be used exclusively as a Study Hall and Library.

The Garden Project
(Under Construction)
The scope of this Garden Project will be to create a walkway path from the Orphanage building down to the Budda shrine in the bottom of the garden. Today the path is on a very steep dirt hill which makes it difficult for the children to visit Budda. In addition, we will level out two sections of the unusable steep dirt hill. The new leveled-out sections will be utilized as vegetable gardens for the children.

Third Floor
Expansion Project
(Under Construction)
Presently, the orphanage consists of two separate two-story buildings. One of the buildings consists of bathrooms, showers, a dining room, a recreation room, a study room, and the girl's bedrooms. The second building consists of both floors being utilized as the boy's bedrooms.
This project entails adding a third floor to both buildings. Presently the dining room serves three functions, a place to eat meals, a Study Hall, and a Recreation Room. Once the third floor is added, we can place the recreation room above the dining room. A separate project entails building a, stand-alone a to be utilized in the study room and library. This will enable the dining room to be used exclusively for dining. The third floor will also add bedrooms so the children have more room to sleep.

Retention Wall Project
(Under Construction)
Our community recently experienced an unprecedented weather event, with 48 hours of continuous rainfall in late September. This extreme weather led to a significant mudslide that threatens the structural integrity of our kitchen area. To mitigate this risk and ensure the safety of our community members, we propose the construction of a retention wall to prevent future landslides.
Additionally, we aim to improve the outdoor space for our children by purchasing new, durable benches. Inside, we will replace the damaged kitchen and dining area flooring and repaint the walls to create a more inviting and functional space.
